Iron is probably the most troublesome mineral encountered in industrial water supplies. This mineral stains and contaminates anything it contacts. These . stains are usually yellowish-brown to reddish-brown in colour. Iron appears in water usually in two state-Ferric (visible and insoluble) and Ferrous (dissolved). Ferric iron can be simply filtered from water, while ferrous iron must be oxidized and then filtered. Iron removal filter is used to solve this problem. In DINEC'S Iron Removal Filters IF SERIES, Birm is used as the filtering media, for removing both oxidized iron and iron in solution, from water containing less than 5ppm of iron concentration. With the extremely high efficiency of iron removal, Birm can convert those ferrous iron to suspended ferric state, in order to be filtered out together with the original insoluble Ferric iron at the same tank. Iron removal filter must be periodically backwashing, to wash away the accumulated deposits. No chemical regeneration is required under proper use.
